Central control system for the Seville metro Line 1

Description

Seville Metro Line 1 with 21 stations and 20km of track is as of 2009, the first metro line in Andalusia and one of the most modern in Spain. Emte Sistemas, as part of the COMSA EMTE Group, among other contributions to the project, has completed the design, development, installation and commissioning of the centralized control system.

The System includes supervision and control of the following subsystems:

  • Energy: Traction substations and catenary isolators.
  • Low voltage electrical distribution: Centers for transformation, lighting and electrical connections.
  • Passenger Information System: Information Panels and PA.
  • Vertical Transport: Lifts and escalators.
  • Ventilation.
  • Platform Doors: Platform doors and emergency doors to track.
  • Security: Access control and video surveillance.
  • Fire: Switchboards, fire alarm and fire detection systems, fire dampers.
  • Communications: Telephony, intercom, digital radio (TETRA).

The Energy SCADA has its own native application based on esTRAUSS. The remaining systems are unified in the same application by the integration suite and include:

  • Traffic
  • Ticketing and Validation

ERV, developed by Emte Sistemas, has been used as messaging system for this project.

The hardware architecture for the L1 esTRAUSS in Metro Sevilla is organized using a pair of servers for Energy SCADA, and one pair for the integrator, arranged in a configuration that ensures operation in redundancy (hot-stand by). As there is only Control Center, both the main and secondary servers are in the same location.

An important requirement for this project was the flexibility of the reports, so it was decided to include a relational database (ORACLE) for storage of historical data, rather than the historical database that incorporates proprietary format based SCADA.

The operations stations have the following profiles:

  • 1 x Traffic
  • 1 x Energy
  • 1 x Coordination
  • 1 x Communications
  • 1 x Stations

The architecture and configuration of five operator stations is the same. Through profile management (monitoring and control) the operator stations are interchangeable so as to suit the needs of the operator at a given time.

In case of loss of communications between the stations and the Control Centre, a Local Control Station is available as a contingency measure at each station, which performs the following integration features:

  • Vertical Transport
  • Electromechanical Installations
  • Validation and Ticketing
  • Fire systems
